| YAY! And if you haven't guessed, we'll be stopping at Shell stations.
Shell FTW!
I will be bringing a small canopy to set up at IA so bring a small chair if you would care to join us. We'll come up with times for departing and hopefully keeping a good schedule along the way and for the weekend. If you're late, you get left behind!

| Drinks? Buy 2 drinks at the gas station instead of 1. We're trying to make it there in 11-ish hours, not 3 days. No such thing as a quick stop with over 10 people. lol | |

This. We made the first section of driving the longest. This is for the simple fact that within the first 3 to 4 hours, people are ready for a road trip. After the first stop, people start to get restless and antsy, hence why we made the subsequent stops more frequent. If you want to add in another spot, suggest a location and we can add it in

| My suggestion for adding a stop...
Try to make it a fast food place since gas stations can get cramped with 8 or so cars.

When we went to Import Alliance last year, I got the best gas mileage I had ever gotten in my Accord in the entire 5 years I owned it - 32 mpg. This is for the simple fact that in a caravan of cars driving down a highway, you tend to go slower than you would if you were driving the same highway by yourself. We had a bunch of lowered cars in our group last year, so we took the unfamiliar highway slower than one normally would. This will be the same case this year. We aren't going to act like a bunch of ricer fucksticks trying to commandeer a semi full of DVD players. We will be driving at a comfortable pace to ensure everyone stays within the pack and we don't get in trouble with the local authorities. I'd estimate that you could get as good as 25-30mpg on the trip to NC. I had the same car as you have with the same engine and was able to get 30+ numbers. Even packed down you should be able to get decent numbers out of your Accord. You should be able to get at minimum 300 miles to a tank, especially when 100% of the driving is at a constant highway speed. The stops aren't set in stone by any means, so we can always make extra if needed

| Lol @ semi full of dvd players... Who the frick buys a dvd player anymore?!
But yes, we're not driving like retards. I would always get 28-30 mpg in my 5th gen on road trips like this and I would drive like a ricer fuckstick.

| Snacks would be awesome. They must involve bacon.
In other news, I just got word that there is little to no cell phone reception in the mountains as we pass through the Tail of the Dragon. No texting and driving for you fools! Just kidding. But seriously, make sure you are aware of this should a problem arise.

| If you happen to have walkie-talkies, bring them and we can try to keep in touch a little bit on the road and at the meet if necessary.
Also, if you bought pre-sale tickets... don't forget to print them out and bring them with you!

| IMPORTANTUPDATE ON ROUTE: Just got word that the I-65 bridge going through Louisville is under construction. Because of this, southbound traffic is restricted to 2 lanes, and northbound traffic is restricted to a single lane. The person I talked this over with also gave me a heads up on the proper way to avoid most of this and it isn't very far out of the way. The link posted below shows the NEW ROUTE we will take to avoid this construction. When taking this route, we will act as if we are going to St. Louis. This will get us to I-64, then we will take that through Louisville and onward to Lexington. http://goo.gl/maps/lU2N | |
