| But I need a thought, or some sort of test I can run.
When I first bought the car, I knew it had a trannie problem. She gave me the codes, and I did my internet reserch. The codes I am getting codes p1758 and P6715, I dont know it they are current. I am not near my car, however I am working on getting it shipped to me. I replaced the top selonoide, but havent touched the bottom one. The car shifted fine all the way down to the gas station. I went inside to pay for gas, and when I came out, it felt like it would engaged a gear, and if it did, it would kick out. But when the trans was working, it shifting great. Am I better off replacing the trans? Oh am I better off troubleshooting the trans?
Shoot me all thoughts.

| is it an auto? or a manual?
if auto, there is a shift solenoid (lower) and a lockup solenoid (upper). you can try to take them off and clean them, but you are better off replacing, the bottom solenoid is a bitch to get to. if the transmission is still having issues read the codes again. there are internal solenoids, and if one of those are bad the transmission is trash.
i was having issues with my lockup solenoid, and my cel was on for over 6 months without a problem. when i replaced it though, it drove a lot smoother, so it is possible that the shift solenoid could be making it fall out of gear.
another thing i can think of checking is the shift linkage. does it drive if u put it into d1/d2/d3?

| yeah i would say thats a solenoid issue but im not an expert. i recommend cleaning, and if that doesnt work then replace the solenoid. if that doesnt work, keep your solenoids, and replace the transmission, with my used tranny the solenoid was bad.
the solenoids can clog up, if you noticed with the new one there is a gasket with little metal mesh. just take the solenoid off and clean the mesh with brake cleaner, if its not clogged then just replace it.

| Didnt touch it this weekend. Plan is as follows. 1. Clean bottom solenoid. Test it. 2. Fluid change. 3. Tcm look over/replace. 5. If that doesnt work, move to my house. 6. Save money. 7. Replace transmission.
I need to hurry, I got a kid on the way and this will be the dd I walk to work, which is only 15mins. I need to get this done by Feb 15.

| i suggest no fluid change. on older transmissions its often better to NOT change the fluid, as changing it can cause more problems, or make current problems worse. if all fails, find a way to get it to indy and ill buy it for $650 | |

| Ordered the bottom solenoide this morning. I hope to get it soon, so I can get it installed and see if that fixes the trannie.
