Hey everyone! Been looking around for a regional forum/owners group in the Midwest and in particular, Iowa. No such luck thus far. I saw this one so I thought I'd stop in and check it out.
Annnnnyway, a bit about me and my ride. I live in Des Moines, IA, been a proud owner of my Accord for a little less than a year. Bought her from the dealership my brother in law works at for the amount they gave the owner for the trade in, plus TTL. $2700 got me a one-owner,low mileage, bone stock ride that had been previously driven by an older woman.

Not much for mods, really. I'm a teacher so I do everything on a fairly tight budget. Perhaps one day I'll boost her but for now I'm content with the improved handling and the audio install that is constantly evolving. Early 2012 will bring many changes including new paint, wheels and tires, and if all goes according to plan I'll be changing the entire audio install yet again.
Here's some pics of my baby after I signed the papers:
Only two spots of rust on the entire car, the spot by the wheel well was most likely caused by them awful fender trim pieces Honda loves putting on their cars. Dunno what the spot on the door was from but it looks like the old lady had one of them door bumper things stuck there and the paint got ripped off when it was removed. They'll be easy to fix, oughtta make for an easy respray in the spring.
Here's the car as she sits right now:
The beginnings of the audio install. Started with an old Fosgate 10" I've had for a good eight years. I built a custom enclosure that used the ski pass and left a stupid small footprint, allowing me to keep most of the usable trunk space.
My quality control department.
Used the frame for the ski pass to make a grill. Stealthy goodness.
Started on the front stage with MB Quart mids and tweets.
First set of sail panels.
Second set of sail panels, currently in use.
Door-mounted mids are on custom mounts that completely decouple the drivers from the door skins and allow full function of the windows. The doors are also sealed and deadened to provide an IB environment for the mids.
No amp rack found in this car. I'm not big on flash and with the current sub enclosure there wasn't much room in the trunk. The amps are quite happy at home under the front seats. A Polk Audio PA880 sends 250w to each sub and a Polk Audio PA660 sends 75w to each front speaker. There is no rear fill in the car.
My current sub stage consists of a pair of Pioneer Champion Series 12" drivers. Each driver is in its own enclosure with 1.5 cu ft net airspace each, and tuned to 35Hz. The enclosures themselves are identical. I originally had one sub and when I added the second I only had enough material to build a second box. Baffles are made of 1" birch plywood, everything else is .75" birch, and the insides are sealed with butyl compound and then deadened with Stinger Roadkill.
About 100 pounds of Stinger Roadkill is laid throughout the car, particularly in the trunk. Everything was deadened, even the back of the trunk liner and plastic trim panels.
A Viper alarm protects my investment.
